Kodiak

Meet Kodiak šŸ¤

Kodiak has been with Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue for several months now, and his journey is nothing short of inspiring. When he came to us, he had a previous injury to his hind leg that ultimately required amputation. On March 12, 2026, Kodiak officially became a proud tripod—and he hasn’t looked back since.

This sweet boy is absolutely thriving. Losing his leg hasn’t slowed him down one bit—in fact, it’s like the weight of that injury has been lifted, and Kodiak is finally free to just be a dog. He’s adjusting to life on three legs better than we ever could have imagined, getting around with confidence, resilience, and a whole lot of heart.

Kodiak may be a little smaller than your typical Great Pyrenees (around 65–70 pounds), but what he lacks in size, he more than makes up for in personality. He is incredibly gentle, loving, and easygoing. Kodiak gets along beautifully with everyone he meets—dogs, cats, and even livestock like chickens and goats. He truly is everyone’s friend.

All Kodiak wants is a family to call his own. A place where he can continue to blossom, share his sweet nature, and prove every day that being different doesn’t make him any less amazing—it makes him unforgettable.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a heart of gold, Kodiak is your guy. 🐾
